The Nagambie golf club annual cross country event with the Ray Cassar Memorial trophy on offer was a great day with many visitors supporting the popular day. Thanks to "Goldy" and The Top Pub for 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes.

Golfers and non golfers took to the 16 hole composite course, the winning pair with the big jolly man involved was quite appropriate for this time of year Trevor Redfern and Gary Bow firing a 61 nett 68.5. Redfern making his maiden speech thanked his partner for some excellent short play around the greens, while Bow thanked Trevor for his substantial handicap. Runners up went to our four ball best ball specialist Doug Pocknee with Paul Neibling in tow once again Pocknee goes away with a prize at a major event their score was the best scratch score also a 56 nett 49.25, third place went to the ever consistent Trevor Price and Harold Rayner shooting 59 nett 49.75.

Ladies Competition Results


On Wednesday 1 November we had 10 players for a Stroke round. The winner of the 18 hole comp was Annette Mills with Gross 101 (29) 72 nett and the winner of the 9 hole comp was also Annette with 33.5 nett. The balls winners for 18 hole comp were Annette, Jane Bow (76 nett) and Ronda Richards (77 nett). The 9 hole ball winners were Annette, Ronda (37 nett) and Val Labas (37.5 nett).


The nearest the pins on the 3rd and 16th were also won by Annette.


On Wednesday 8 November it will be a Par round for the Monthly Medal and on Wednesday 15 November we will be playing Stableford followed by the Women’s AGM and a shared lunch.

The first round of the Summer Trophy was run and won on Sunday with Dean Brown taking the win.

After plonking a ball into the water on 16 he thought his chances of victory had gone with it, but a birdie, par finish secured a one shot victory with a 81-70.


Runner-up was visiting Seymour golfer Paul Niebling who signed for a 84-71. Next best came down to a three way countback with Tim Baldwin’s 2 over 38 on the back nine claiming third place with 83-72.

The ever consistent duo of Lindsay Hall 86-72 & Dave Fullager 90-72 closing out the top five.


Nearest the pins went to Alby Seenan on 8, Trevor Price on 13 and Tim Baldwin by the barest of margins on 16.

The August monthly medal was a day for the brave hearts and fools with persistent showers crossing the course and the temperature lower than snakes belly in a wheel rut. The course won the day with no player returning a score near par or better, the monthly medal went to Jon Ford with a hard fought out tenacoius grind of a round, nett 74. Jon credited his playing partners for the encouragement on the way round and said it was a steely determination that got him across the line in torrid playing conditions. Runner up was Jeremy Ezard with a solid winter round of 78-3-75 and next best went to Nagambie golf club hardman  Trevor Price with a nett 77.


The nearest the pins were tough to reach on the day with only 2 going off, they were John James floating one up to the 13th and Jeremy Ezard getting luck on the 16th. Next weeks golf is a sponsored event The Wyndham Accounting...
