A big field turned out for the final Monthly medal of the year before the Gold medal playoff next week, with plenty of good scores carded there was one stand out on the day. Dean Brown put together a vintage round of 76-11-65 to win the event by a comfortable 4 strokes, Brown finished the day on a high with a chip in on the last, his nearest rival was Darrel Baldwin who is playing some consistant golf of late with a 90-21-69. The best of the rest were Wayne LeCerf with 86-16-70 and Harold Rayner 88-18-70.

Social and Saturday Golf


The chicken run on Thursday the 3rd saw19 players out on a windy day playing a stroke event. The winner with a good score of 44-9-35nett was David Hill with Shaun Bryant taking the nearest the pin on the 16th. It was great to see a competition on Saturday for the Unisex day. The winner was Gareth Bow with 17 points. No nearest the Pin was recorded.

Wednesday the 2nd saw 9 Women playing a stableford round for the Monthly Medal. It was a great number of players considering all our other members away and sick. The winner of the Monthly Medal, B and C Grade was Maureen King with 37 points. The A Grade winner was Deirdre Kleinig on a count back from Jan McKay and Mozzy Fowler all with 32 points. The extra 9 hole winner was Ronda Richards with 17 points on a count back from McKay with both ladies winning a ball down the line. Balls for 18 holes went to King and Jane Bow on 36 points. The only nearest the pin went to McKay on the 8th.

The first weekend of spring arrived with very little sunshine in tow, the overcast skies and light north wind made for ideal playing conditons, with plenty of grass on the course and the fairways nice and green. A monthly medal was the prize on offer with the number of players slightly down due to Father's Day. The winner of the medal went to Mark Gale a player who is definitely on the improve, and has figured in the results of a number of recent events, Mark put together a solid round of 89-18-71. Runner up to Mark on the day was playing partner Dean Brown who made good use of some extra handicap shooting 84-11-73. Next best scores went to Tim Baldwin and David Love both golfers firing nett 73.
