Ray Cassar Memorial Cross Country Mens Event

The Nagambie golf club annual cross country event with the Ray Cassar Memorial trophy on offer was a great day with many visitors supporting the popular day. Thanks to "Goldy" and The Top Pub for 1st 2nd and 3rd prizes.

Golfers and non golfers took to the 16 hole composite course, the winning pair with the big jolly man involved was quite appropriate for this time of year Trevor Redfern and Gary Bow firing a 61 nett 68.5. Redfern making his maiden speech thanked his partner for some excellent short play around the greens, while Bow thanked Trevor for his substantial handicap. Runners up went to our four ball best ball specialist Doug Pocknee with Paul Neibling in tow once again Pocknee goes away with a prize at a major event their score was the best scratch score also a 56 nett 49.25, third place went to the ever consistent Trevor Price and Harold Rayner shooting 59 nett 49.75.

The nearest the pins were Wayne 'Bullet' LeCerf on the 6th great to see Wayne back to full health after a recent illness, Doug Neville surprising himself and the entire clubhouse winning the 10th, Vic Cassar precariously claiming the 16th and 9th hole, and Des Phelan knocking one into the 16th the second time around. The club has a short Christmas break with regular competition golf returning on the Sunday 31st December a stableford event with S.McCormick on office duty and W.Leviston in the bar. The committee and members would like to thank all our sponsors and players that participated throughout the 2017 season and wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New year.
